Wilderness First Aid Course

WFAThe Advanced Training Committee has worked out an opportunity for Wilderness First Aid training during the last weekend in June of this year.

Here are the particulars:

Course fee is $70.00 with a non-refundable place-holder fee of $20.00 to be retained by the Headwaters Chapter in the case of course withdrawal or no show.  Place-holder fees are due by May 30, 2014 and final payment is due by June 20th.  You may make full payment by May 30th if you desire but the non-refundable fee of $20.00 will be retained by Headwaters if you cancel or are a no show.  Make checks payable to the VMN Headwaters chapter and mail to:

VMN Headwaters Chapter
P.O. Box 206
Dayton, VA 22821

Attention: Kathy Romig, Treasurer

More information about what to expect from the course is available here. The course is taught through Emergency Prep at their facility in the south end of Harrisonburg off U.S. Route 11 at 3221 Peoples Dr.

These are all day classes starting at 8am and ending at 4pm on Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29th.   You may bring your own lunch or eat at one of the nearby establishments in Harrisonburg.

Headwaters attendees can use this course time as Advanced Training hours.

This is a very good deal for anyone interested in Emergency First Aid applicable to an outdoor or rural setting.  The course fee of $70.00 is a discount from the normal $150.00 charge and does not include the course text.  You may purchase the course text from the course provider if you desire.  Headwaters is considering a common copy purchase of the course text to be available for loan to Headwaters volunteers as requested.

Although this is not a SOLO course, it is comparable and convenient as the instruction is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Most courses of this type range in cost from $150.00 to $175.00.
