With each class, we look for those individuals who are curious about the natural world, enjoy the outdoors, and want to develop the necessary skills for volunteering and contributing to natural resource management, preservation and conservation in Virginia. Applications for the 2026 training have closed. Please check back in the fall of 2026 for information about the 2027 class.

To apply, you will need to submit an online application, participate in a brief phone interview, pay the course fee, and have your references checked by the Headwaters Master Naturalist training committee.

Cost: The fee for this course is $130.

You will also be expected to purchase the Flora of Virginia app ($19.99) if you do not already have it.
